I can just hear your shouts now responding to my offensive title to the blog. Well, before you get on your high horse let me explain. I rain across a comedian by the name of Jim Gaffigan the other night...hilarious! He did a piece on holidays and a section of that was on Easter. Check it out before continuing to read:
So I hope you got some good laughs out of that clip, because I sure did! But really, when you think about it, so many of our Christian holidays are spent spending money on little trinkets, candy, and other material things that are not at all what the holiday itself is about. Sometimes I wonder what God thinks of what we've made of Easter. We have added things onto it, traditions and other practices like the Easter bunny. All He really wants is for us to take a genuine moment out of our day to reflect and praise Him for the magnificent gift we were given and His awesome power. I'm off to dye my Easter eggs....I get extra points at Bible Study for the best one.
